In March 2022, the Moxy Athens City Hotel was delivered, on Stadiou Street, on Omonia Square. The former Saroglio Mansion was transformed into a modern hotel under the planning, guidance and technical perfection of all contributors of the project.
The architecture study gave a special dynamism and a modern identity to the historic building that once housed the Athens Justice of the Peace. The lighting of the outer shell, which is architecturally inspired by the sacred olive tree∙ the gift of the goddess Athena to the city, was undertaken by the HUB Lighting & Innovation by Kafkas team. The lighting of the individual “leaves” renders the two-color reflection of the olive leaf, depending on the twist of each panel. Thus, the hotel shell becomes an organic element of the metropolis that changes and communicates with the surrounding space, depending on natural lighting, weather conditions, user requirements, city events, etc.
In this way, the architectural lighting highlights a modern landmark in an emblematic spot of the metropolis.
