Residence in Glyfada

This residence is another example of how architecture and lighting work together to achieve a refined and well-balanced result.

The sequence of spaces along an elongated conceptual axis is carefully articulated through lighting. The slim linear lighting elements selected for the project reinforce the linearity of the space, providing soft, diffuse and uniform illumination.

The alternating arrangement of the lighting elements in horizontal and vertical orientations creates a sense of visual balance. Using exclusively one orientation could result in a monotonous or overly dynamic visual experience, conveying either a sense of stillness or continuous movement.

Another particularly interesting aspect is the way the balance achieved across the horizontal plane of the ceiling is echoed on the vertical plane of the walls. Concealed lighting introduces a sense of movement, while track-mounted projectors illuminate the walls in a more static and controlled manner. Together, these contrasting lighting approaches compose a cohesive lighting canvas.

Finally, the brushed gold finish of the luminaires adds a refined touch to the overall scheme, complementing the wooden surfaces and enhancing the warm, inviting atmosphere of the residence.

At HUB Lighting & Innovation by KAFKAS, lighting is approached as an integral part of architectural design. Through specialist expertise, lighting consultancy and technical support, we work alongside architects and lighting designers to help translate design intent from concept to implementation.
