Crafting Light for Life: An Evening Dedicated to Light, Landscape and Human Experience

On 24 June, the Vorres Museum hosted Crafting Light for Life, an immersive event organized by HUB Lighting & Innovation by KAFKAS in collaboration with Luce&Light (L&L). More than an event, the initiative marked another significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the two companies, reflecting their shared vision of advancing architectural lighting through expertise, innovation and design excellence.

More than 100 architects, lighting designers, landscape architects, engineers and KAFKAS partners gathered in a remarkable cultural setting where art, architecture and landscape provided the ideal backdrop for an evening dedicated to the transformative power of light.

The event opened with an inspiring dialogue between Lighting Designer Thanos Danilof and Landscape Architect Dr. Antonis Skordilis, exploring the relationship between lighting, landscape and human experience. Through a series of built projects and real-world case studies, the speakers highlighted the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and demonstrated why lighting should be considered an integral part of the design process from its earliest stages. Their discussion reinforced a fundamental principle of contemporary design: the most successful environments emerge when lighting is conceived as an essential component of the architectural composition rather than a final addition.

Guests were then invited to explore a series of specially curated interactive lighting installations throughout the museum’s outdoor spaces. By experiencing different qualities of light—its shadow, colour, beam distribution and direction—they discovered first-hand how lighting transforms spatial perception and fundamentally influences the way we experience architecture and landscape.

The event reflects the HUB’s ongoing strategy to strengthen the design-led identity of KAFKAS while cultivating meaningful relationships with the architectural community. At the same time, it reaffirmed the HUB’s role as a platform for knowledge exchange, inspiration and dialogue around contemporary architectural lighting.

The evening concluded with a networking cocktail in the museum gardens, offering participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, establish new professional connections and continue the conversation on the relationship between light, architecture and landscape.

It was an evening that reminded everyone of a simple yet profound truth: light does far more than illuminate a space—it shapes the way we perceive it, experience it and ultimately remember it.

More than an event, Crafting Light for Life brought together a community of professionals who share the belief that thoughtful design has the power to enhance the quality of life and enrich the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit. It was a celebration of collaboration, creativity and the conviction that light is not merely a technical necessity, but one of architecture’s most powerful design mediums.
